Lonnie Wilson, a leading Lean consultant suggests that if you want to reduce your costs, don't focus on cost reductions! Instead he says to focus on Lean. Focusing on Lean will achieve lower costs.

Periodically FMI does a productivity survey of contractors. The population for FMI’s 2012 Survey were mostly senior company leaders including CEOs, CFOs, COOs, presidents, executive vice presidents and vice presidents. It included general and sub contractors.

One area where most contractors are challenged is ‘corrective action’. There are several parts to this concept that bear review. First, corrective action is not just about doing something to correct a problem. It is also about taking steps to prevent the future occurrence of that problem.
